Lactation Consultation
A visit with an IBCLC can be the most important appointment you have after the birth of your baby. Families meet with a lactation consultant to provide reassurance that feeding that is going well, to make minor adjustments to improve feeding, or to assess and design a comprehensive feeding plan for a struggling breastfeeding family. All visits include a history, assessment, weighted feeding, problem solving, counseling, a follow up plan and printed education, a report to your baby's doctor (and the mom's doctor, if needed), and anything necessary to help make your nursing relationship successful. Visits typically last 1.5-2 hours. Follow up visits usually are shorter. Any supplies needed are included.
Things to bring to the appointment: Your baby, questions and concerns, any devices you have been currently using for feeding, expressed breast milk or formula if needed for supplementation, your breast pump, your phone app or log of feedings/diapers if you have been keeping track.

Payments
At TLC, we understand that breastfeeding is not only important for your health and the health of your baby, but breastfeeding saves money, too. The cost of NOT breastfeeding is much more than the cost of lactation services.
Payment is due at the time of service. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted. You can be provided with a detailed superbill upon request that you can send to your insurance company. Many insurance companies cover lactation services in accordance with the Affordable Care Act, but I do not guarantee my services will be covered by YOUR insurance.
I also know that some families need assistance from a lactation consultant that truly cannot afford the service. Call and speak with me regarding individualized payment plans.
Prenatal Breastfeeding Class
Parents-to-be can meet with Trish in an individual or group setting to learn ways to maximize breastfeeding success. Topics include how your body makes milk, skin to skin contact, feeding cues and how to know your baby is getting enough milk, positioning and latching techniques, normal feeding behaviors, how or when to introduce alternative feeding methods and/or solids foods, and how to maintain your milk supply if you are going back to work. Class fee includes a class study guide and an internet access code for resources to continue your education.
